Recently, the cryogenic nitrogen production unit built by NUZHUO for a certain oilfield was officially put into operation. With the successful injection of the high-purity nitrogen produced by the unit into Well No. 4, it marks an important breakthrough in the oilfield’s gas injection development model. It officially bid farewell to the traditional decentralized single-well skid-mounted gas injection era and entered a new stage of independent nitrogen production and centralized gas injection.

The cryogenic nitrogen production unit put into operation this time adopts a dual-tower distillation deep cooling nitrogen production combined with expansion refrigeration technology. It is equipped with centralized nitrogen production, two-stage pressurization, and branched network integrated design. The daily nitrogen production capacity reaches 600,000 cubic meters, and the nitrogen purity is stably maintained at 99.99%. It can fully meet the high-pressure precise injection requirements of deep oil and gas reservoirs. Compared with the previous decentralized single-well skid-mounted injection mode, the new device has significant advantages in multiple dimensions such as efficiency, cost, and safety: On one hand, the centralized management has significantly improved the injection organization efficiency, the stability of nitrogen purity effectively reduces the corrosion risk of the pipe string and ground equipment, and the well control safety guarantee capability is also enhanced simultaneously; on the other hand, the centralized nitrogen production mode reduces the overall injection cost by 10% compared with the original mode, balancing the development benefits and environmental protection requirements.This device is the core support for the oilfield’s enhanced oil recovery experiments. Currently, the oilfield is conducting research on gas injection for oil displacement. This device can precisely inject gas under high pressure to replenish energy for the underground oil and gas, and explore key experience for enhancing oil recovery technology in carbonate rock oilfields. It will become an important guarantee for the long-term increase and stable production of Fumeng Oilfield.It is reported that the oilfield will gradually establish a new type of gas injection system featuring “mainly centralized nitrogen production and supplemented by skid-mounted nitrogen production”. This system will be designed to meet the different geological development requirements, further optimize the gas injection scale and operational efficiency, and promote the development of the oil and gas field towards a safer, more efficient and greener direction. The large-scale implementation of this deep cooling nitrogen production technology also provides a reference technical path and application sample for improving recovery rates in similar oil and gas reservoirs in China.
