Hyderabad: The public hospitals in the city are well prepared to meet any oxygen demand during the Covid period thanks to the factories set up by the major hospitals.
Supplying oxygen won’t be a problem because it’s plentiful, according to officials, who noted the government is building oxygen plants in hospitals.
The Gandhi Hospital, which received the most patients during the Covid wave, is also equipped with an oxygen plant. It has a capacity of 1,500 beds and can accommodate 2,000 patients during peak hours, a senior hospital official said. However, there is enough oxygen to supply 3,000 patients. He said that a 20 cell water tank had recently been installed in the hospital. The hospital’s facility can produce 2,000 liters of liquid oxygen per minute, the official said.
The chest hospital has 300 beds, all of which can be connected to oxygen. The hospital also has an oxygen plant that can run for six hours, the official said. In stock he will always have 13 liters of liquid oxygen. In addition, there are panels and cylinders for every need, he said.
People may recall that hospitals were on the verge of collapse during the second wave, as the biggest problem was providing Covid patients with oxygen. Deaths from lack of oxygen have been reported in Hyderabad, with people running from pole to pole to get oxygen tanks.
