Vacuum pressure swing adsorption (VPSA) oxygen production technology is an efficient and energy-saving method for preparing oxygen. It achieves oxygen and nitrogen separation through selective adsorption of molecular sieves. Its process flow mainly includes the following core links:

1. Raw air treatment system

Air compression: The blower compresses the ambient air to about 63kPa (gauge pressure) to provide power for subsequent adsorption. The compression process will generate high temperature, which needs to be cooled to the process required temperature (about 5-40℃) by a water cooler.

Pretreatment purification: A two-stage filter is used to remove mechanical impurities, and a drying device is used to remove pollutants such as moisture and oil mist to protect the molecular sieve adsorbent.

2. Adsorption separation system

Dual tower alternating adsorption: The system is equipped with two adsorption towers equipped with zeolite molecular sieves. When one tower is adsorbing, the other tower is regenerated. Compressed air enters from the bottom of the tower, and the molecular sieve preferentially adsorbs impurities such as nitrogen and carbon dioxide, and oxygen (purity 90%-95%) is output from the top of the tower.

Pressure control: The adsorption pressure is usually maintained below 55kPa, and automatic switching is achieved through pneumatic valves.

3. Desorption and regeneration system

Vacuum desorption: After saturation, the vacuum pump reduces the pressure in the tower to -50kPa, desorbs nitrogen and discharges it into the exhaust muffler.

Oxygen purge: In the later stage of regeneration, some product oxygen is introduced to flush the adsorption tower to further improve the adsorption efficiency of the next cycle.

4. Product processing system

Oxygen buffer: Discontinuous oxygen products are first stored in a buffer tank (pressure 14-49kPa), and then pressurized to the user’s required pressure by the compressor.

Purity guarantee: Through fine filters and flow balance control, stable oxygen output is ensured.

5.Intelligent control system

Adopt PLC to achieve fully automatic operation, with functions such as pressure monitoring, fault alarm, energy consumption optimization, and support remote monitoring.

The process drives the adsorption-desorption cycle through pressure changes. Compared with traditional PSA technology, vacuum assistance significantly reduces energy consumption (about 0.32-0.38kWh/Nm³). It has been widely used in steel, chemical, medical and other fields, and is particularly suitable for medium and large-scale oxygen demand scenarios.
