[Kiev/Hangzhou, August 19, 2025] — China’s leading industrial technology company Nuzhuo Group recently held high-level talks with the Ukrainian National Nuclear Energy Corporation (Energoatom). The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on the upgrading of the oxygen supply system of nuclear power plants and cooperation in safety equipment, and planned to further promote the connection between technical cooperation and supply chain. This move is seen as an important step in deepening cooperation between China and Ukraine in the field of energy security.

Cooperation background: Ukraine’s nuclear energy facilities need to be upgraded urgently

As an important nuclear power country in Europe, Ukraine has multiple nuclear energy facilities including the Zaporo Thermal Power Plant (the largest nuclear power plant in Europe). Affected by the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the safe operation and equipment maintenance of some nuclear power plants are facing challenges, especially in areas such as emergency oxygen supply systems, radiation protection and key gas supply.

Nuzhuo Group has become a potential partner of Ukraine thanks to its advantages in high-pressure oxygen equipment, industrial gas solutions and nuclear safety technology. The talks focus on:

1. Modernization of emergency oxygen systems in nuclear power plants to ensure safety and redundancy in extreme cases;

2. Cooperate with special gas supply and storage technology to improve the stability of nuclear reactor cooling system;

3. Long-term maintenance and personnel training plan to strengthen the independent operation and maintenance capabilities of Ukrainian nuclear facilities.

Next plan

The two sides agreed to form a joint working group in the next few months to consult on technical standards, compliance and project implementation details. If progress goes well, the first batch of equipment pilots may be launched in a nuclear power plant in Ukraine in 2025.
